Requiem, the Answers to Your Questions: War

Whenever someone reaches out and asks for my opinion on the current situation in Armenia, I find it most effective to simply direct them to Mikael Minasyan’s Requiem series. However, knowing that most people are unlikely to put in the hours necessary to go through all of them, I thought it would be useful to summarize the main points made in each episode so far.

Requiem 2 / War

Russia sent to Armenia its most advanced air defense systems the second half of the war. Pashinyan did not allow these weapons to be moved to Artsakh.

In October of 2018, in a Dubai hotel, a senior member of Pashinyan’s administration received a letter from a senior member of the Aliyev administration, providing Pashinyan with the same five billion dollar offer that Serzh Sargsyan had rejected. He was told that the money would come through clean untraceable sources in European funds. Senior intelligence officers in the Armenian national security apparatus are now aware of this fact. It is not known if the offer was accepted by Pashinyan.

Anna Hakobyan was personally responsible for horrific military decisions that had deadly consequences. In the command center bunker, she said that I don’t care if five or six thousand men have to die, Lele Tepe must be taken. Lele Tepe was the one hill of significance that was lost in the April War. Taking it would have meant having the means to carry on the necessary deception for the rest of the war that things were going well. To be able to say that we took back what Serzh Sargsyan lost. The sacrifice made to take Lele Tepe is said to have been a major factor in the frontline giving in further south, through which all Artsakh was ultimately lost.

Anna Hakobyan was personally responsible for ensuring that Levon Mnatsakyan, Samvel “Oganovsky” Karapetyan, and Vitaly Balasanyan were not being allowed to make any contributions for the majority of the war.

Anna Hakobyan was personally responsible for the ludicrous “Getashen” propaganda. The idea that Armenia was close to capturing Getashen, despite the fact that it lies twenty kilometers past the front line. This utter and blatant lie, which was propagated at the highest levels of the government, was meant to distract from the horrific territorial losses that Armenia was suffering.

Davit Tonoyan was in Bulgaria on the day the war started to celebrate “Patron” Davit Galastyan’s birthday.

Pashinyan was warned since the beginning of August by Chief of Staff Onik Gasparyan that Turkey would be involved in a coming war with Azerbaijan.

Besides Sergey Pegov, who was present thanks to Aram Gabrielyan, there was no major international media presence in Artsakh. During the brief four-day April War, Armenia managed to place the Artsakh Foreign Minister live on CNN. During the forty-four day Third Artsakh War, the best Pashinyan could hope for was asking Armenians to shut down streets in Los Angeles near CNN headquarters to stop Turkish propaganda on CNN.

As a state policy, Armenia was expected to recognize Artsakh for any war that lasted longer than six days. All Pashinyan could do was ask Armenians in Fresno to close down roads. Phosphorus was being poured on unarmed civilians, and this is what Armenia was reduced to.

Questions that Pashinyan must Answer:

  • Why Iskander missile was never used on Azerbaijan.
  • Why Iskander missile was used on Shushi on November 7th 2020.
  • Why oil pipelines or military airports were not bombed.
  • Who ordered Shushi withdrawal and on what day.
  • Who prevented the delivery of weapons to Artsakh.
  • Why Armenia did not call upon Russia or CSTO even as Abovyan was under fire.
