July 13: Update on the Azerbaijani Attempted Incursion in Tavush and the Armenian Counteroffensive

According to the Armenian Ministry of Defense:

“On July 12, at around 12:30 pm, servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces attempted an incursion into the Republic of Armenia’s internationally recognized state border in the direction of Tavush in an UAZ vehicle. After being stopped by the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani servicemen abandoned the UAZ and returned to their side of the line of contact.

At 13:45, the Azerbaijani servicemen repeated their attempted offensive towards the same border post of the Armenian Armed Forces, this time using artillery fire, but were neutralized by the Armenian side, suffering casualties and retreating.

In the evening, the Azerbaijani side resumed shelling using 82mm mortar shells towards the same position. The shootings continued at regular intervals throughout the night.

All the attempts of the enemy were contained by the units of the Armenian Armed Forces and neutralized.

On the morning of July 13th, the enemy resumed its provocative measures, continuing to bomb Armenian positions. The Armenian Armed Forces continues to provide the necessary response to neutralize the threat.

There are no losses on the Armenian side.

RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan is in constant contact with Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk. The Minister of Defense informed Ambassador Kasprzyk that the personnel and command of the Armenian Armed Forces were instructed to remain restrained, and in case of provocations by the enemy to the borders of the Republic of Armenia, to respond as necessary, even to occupy new favorable positions.

The Armenian Armed Forces have not targeted Azerbaijani civilian settlements. They have only targeted Azerbaijani military personnel and infrastructure.

The Azerbaijani military-political leadership will bear full responsibility for the losses and internal tensions suffered by the Azerbaijani side.”

There are unconfirmed rumors on Azerbaijani social media that Azerbaijan has suffered seventeen fatalities, and has given up two military positions. At the time of publishing there are four state confirmed and identified fatalities on the side of Azerbaijan and none on the Armenian side.

Azerbaijani state media has confirmed that former Defense Minister Rahim Ghaziyev has been arrested for stating that Azerbaijan has suffered 12 fatalities.

While there has been no official confirmation from the Armenian Armed Forces regarding new positions having been captured, the former spokesman of the Armenian Armed Forces indirectly confirmed it in his unofficial capacity.

Unfortunately, while the Armenian Armed Forces were performing their duties to the highest standards expected, the liberal Armenian government that is largely composed of activists with a long history of anti-nationalist statements and actions, was making announcements that could have easily been confused with those produced by the enemy.

During an exchange with the Defense Minister, Nikol Pashinyan asked Davit Tonoyan “if it’s possible that Azerbaijanis were simply trying to retrieve their vehicle. Because one gets the impression that they were simply lost and wandered onto the Armenian side by accident, and upon realizing where they were, abandoned their vehicle to get back to the other side.”

This was only after sixteen hours of silence following the incursion by the otherwise prolific social media poster, which were only broken by a post about his daughter.

His wife meanwhile, has similarly spend that time promoting herself and their family, as well as her highly deceitful and dishonest campaign for peace. She is forcefully demanding peace, while lamenting Azerbaijani “victims”, just in time for the Armenian counteroffensive.

Below you can find more information and context on Anna Hakobyan’s campaign for “peace” and the black dress she has donned in her strange photo.

Other members of Nikol Pashinyan’s government were similarly busy appealing to their “Azerbaijani friends”, and advancing Azerbaijani state propaganda of Azerbaijani civilian victims.

Naturally, these sentiments were only amplified and repeated by the pro-Pashinyan media, that seemed to be eager to add ambiguity as to who may have been responsible for an unprovoked incursion into Armenia and the events that followed it.

At this moment the exchange of fire is continuing, with shelling reported in the Armenian villages of Chinari and Movses, but the Armenian Armed Forces are in control of the situation. Updates will be provided continuously until the situation has come to a conclusion.
